What would the Civil Service Pension Scheme look like for me?

For SCS 1 roles, you will start with a base salary of £76,000. In addition, through automatic enrolment to the Civil Service Pension Scheme, we will contribute £22,000 to your pension, providing a total reward package of £98,000. For SCS2 roles, you will start with a base salary of £96,000 and pension contributions above £28,000, equating to a total reward package of £124,000.

Annual and special leave

  • You are entitled to 25 days annual leave when you join us, increasing on a sliding scale to 30 days after 5 years' service. This is in addition to 8 public holidays.
  • This will be complemented by one further day paid privilege entitlement to mark the King's Birthday.
  • You can also take up to 5 days of paid leave for volunteering, allowing you to develop yourself while benefitting your community.
  • We recognise that becoming a parent can be a challenging as well as a joyous time. We also offer generous maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave, as well as special paid and unpaid leave.

Flexible Working

While not every type of flexible working will be suitable for every role and business area, flexible working can take many forms and The Ministry of Justice is committed to delivering its business effectively and sustainably by creating modern and inclusive workplaces that enable smart, flexible and hybrid working.

Flexible working can be mutually beneficial to the department and employees by improving employees' work-life balance and wellbeing, helping to attract and retain staff increasing productivity and reducing costs.

Where will I be based?

MoJ has always had a strong national presence and we have created hundreds of new opportunities outside of London. It is our aim to continue to expand our network of Justice Collaboration Centres (JCCs) and Justice Satellite Offices (JSOs) at pace.

All successful candidates will be appointed to the nearest viable office nearest to their home postcode. This will be at either a HQ building (subject to desk allocation, a JCC or JSO - See Map . All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity).
