Job description

Lead Digital Transformation at the Heart of the Justice System

The Ministry of Justice is responsible for services that are fundamental to public confidence, the rule of law and the effective functioning of society. We are transforming the way justice services are delivered, using digital innovation to improve outcomes for victims, vulnerable users and the wider public.

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Product Officer to lead a major part of this transformation.

Created as part of a new Digital, Data and Technology leadership structure, this role will lead the Cross-Justice, Victims and Vulnerability portfolio, shaping the future of digital services across central justice functions, the Office of the Public Guardian, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and a growing range of cross-department capabilities.

Reporting to the Chief Digital & Information Officer, the Chief Product Officer will define the long-term product strategy, lead the modernisation of legacy systems, and embed a product-led operating model across a complex and expanding portfolio. Leading an organisation of more than 220 people – growing to over 500 – you will oversee significant public investment, ensuring digital services are resilient, user-focused and deliver measurable operational and public value.

We are looking for an experienced digital leader with a strong track record of leading large-scale product or transformation organisations, delivering complex digital change and building high-performing, multidisciplinary teams. You will bring strategic judgement, the ability to influence at the highest levels of government, and experience balancing innovation with operational resilience, governance and value for money. Experience of product operating models, digital transformation and organisational change at scale is essential, while experience of AI, emerging technologies or mission-critical public services would be advantageous.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of digital justice, leading services that support millions of people and contribute directly to a modern, efficient and accessible justice system.
