What is Advance into Justice?

Advance into Justice is a campaign exclusively for the Armed Forces family, which provides second career opportunities within our frontline roles within prisons and probation

You can apply for a role via the Advance into Justice scheme if you are:

  • an Armed Forces service leaver within your resettlement period and due to leave the services within 18 months
  • a veteran of the Armed Forces
  • a spouse or civil partner of an Armed Forces service leaver or veteran (your current partner must either be still serving or have been discharged within the last 12 months)
  • an Armed Forces Reservist

If you are eligible, you can apply for a range of roles working with offenders in prisons or in the community. These roles include:

  • Prison officer
  • Operational Support Grade
  • Probation Service Officer
  • Probation Case Administrator
  • Community Payback Supervisor

Some of the roles have a similar focus to ones you may have done in the Armed Forces and they will build on the skills you learnt while serving

What does Advance into Justice offer you?

The Advance into Justice scheme offers an experience which is tailored to meet the needs of eligible applicants. We offer you:

  • An initial 2 -year fixed-term appointment with the opportunity to convert to a permanent appointment after just 12 months in post.
  • An opportunity to defer your start date to align with your exit from the Armed Forces
