The Role:

We’re recruiting for a Learning & Development Officer here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative LAA Digital team. 

We’re looking for talented and tenacious people to join our LAA Digital team, to take the lead in creating world-class services in the justice system. We use cutting-edge agile software development approaches to make rapid but meaningful improvements to public services that live up to the unique challenges of MOJ’s responsibility to society. 

This role is responsible for providing high-quality learning & development support to ensure the smooth running of the department, as well as supporting the effective delivery of change and continuous improvement across the department, which are vital in ensuring the LAA are able to effectively manage the legal aid scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the LAA Digital’s Operational Lead and Senior Management Team, analysing, developing and implementing a strategic approach to Learning & Development with activities to support business needs and objectives.
  • To create an energetic and exciting learning environment across all professional groups and in partnership with Managers to ensure that we work towards improving knowledge, skills, and behaviors that are needed to drive our business forward
  • To create, design, and deliver learning and development solutions to support organisational change using a blend of methodologies including computer-based, self-managed learning, management cascade, and on the job learning
  • Monitor regulatory requirements for staff training and competence and ensure that all requirements and subsequent changes are reflected in the training
  • Ensuring that every L&D intervention includes robust evaluation of the effectiveness and measurement of return of investment
  • Monitor and evaluate feedback and effectiveness of all learning and development activity
  • Use feedback to improve the learning and development service and find new and better ways to operate
  • Ensure that the L&D function offers quality and cost-effective service
  • Working closely with key stakeholders to develop a training plan that provides training evaluation collation, high potential development, and succession planning.
  • Review training and development needs, identify and collating training needs and identify gaps
  • Build & Co­ordinate the appropriate training for all current employees in line with their roles
  • Responsible for identifying and sourcing funding for L&D activities
  • Manage the induction process by arranging, co­ordinating and facilitating sessions, ensuring all new colleagues go through appropriate mapped-out training plans for new starters.
  • Build strong relationships with all internal customers to understand and anticipate the Learning and Development needs across the organisation

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications:

  • CIPD qualified or relevant experience in the field of Learning & Development
  • Evidence of continuing professional development 

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience of identifying training needs, developing and implementing training strategies, and evaluating learning outcomes
  • Proven training / facilitation skills
  • Experience of creating and delivering bespoke and innovative L&D interventions
  • A strong team focus and excellent relationship building skills
  • Track record in delivering agreed outcomes to time and within budgets
  • Experience of promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of employment and service delivery
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent organisational skills & Project Management skills
  • Able to deliver, present and facilitate training to a range of different audiences 

Essential Knowledge & Understanding:

  • Good knowledge of learning & development practices, training and design delivery methodologies
  • An awareness of individual learning styles and the important of appealing to these in L&D delivery 

Willingness to be assessed against  the requirements for BPSS clearance
