I joined the IMA in 2023 whilst completing my Solicitors Qualifying Exams with no previous experience of working within the public sector. The members of the Legal Team are incredibly welcoming and helpful which was invaluable to me as a new employee. The team took the time to support me in developing the skills I would need to succeed in my former position and in my current role as a Legal Adviser. There are also lots of opportunities to engage with colleagues across the IMA both on work related issues and socially which creates an overall welcoming and friendly work environment. One thing that stands out about working for the IMA is the encouragement to engage in personal and professional development opportunities whether this be directly related to your Legal role or in connection with the wider organisation. The learning and development opportunities enabled me to build confidence in working in this interesting area of law and apply my skills and knowledge in all areas of work from litigation to legislation monitoring and the internal governance of the organisation. In the early stages of my legal career, the IMA has already provided me with a breadth of experience and would encourage anyone interested in this area of law to apply.
