We are an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). We are responsible for operationally administering the legal aid fund to provide criminal and civil legal aid advice to people in England and Wales.

Our Business Management Officers are an integral part of the team working to ensure we capture, use and analyse data in the best possible way to support the LAA in delivering swift access to justice.
It is a role that requires the ability to engage with people with confidence, build trust, problem solve and to present complex information simply and clearly and accurately. It is essential that our work aligns with the MoJ Operating Model and the departmental approach to data driven, evidence-based decision making.
Working in this role requires the ability to identify potential challenges for the organisation and working collaboratively to develop creative solutions, whilst ensuring that principles of good data are followed. An innovative and inquisitive approach is essential, going beyond reporting on data, to provide meaningful analysis and recommendations.
The work the team delivers provides actionable intelligence, performance improvements and high-quality information that is trusted by the agency and its stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the LAA to develop strategic thinking and to assess options for making progress on business challenges as required, to ensure the LAA can deliver its outcomes.
Help to shape and deliver the LAA’s response to the MoJ Data Strategy, working with others across the Agency and the wider Justice family.
Work collaboratively with all parts of the LAA to identify and meet business information needs, identifying improvements required and facilitating changes.
Participate in meetings with your team and stakeholders to understand current challenges and future goals.
Provide essential reports and mailshots for internal and external audiences, ensuring the data is accurate and issued on time.
Follow General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) principles for the collation and handling of data.
Undertake research activity to support business decisions.
Contribute to corporate reporting and business intelligence across relevant teams within the LAA.
Support the delivery of the LAA People Plan, with your own diversity objective.
Assist in designing and maintaining dashboards, reports and visualisations using tools, such as Power BI.
