Working Pattern:

The post is supported by the MOJ flexible working policy and includes colleagues who work flexibly, remotely (as part of hybrid working), part time or as part of a job share etc.

To meet legal requirements, if you are between the ages 16-18 and you are a successful candidate, you will be required to complete an apprenticeship after your initial on the job training.

We optimise the use of data analysis to inform direction and monitor performance ensuring our approach to strategy, data and analysis is fully integrated with Ministry of Justice processes and reporting.

Job Summary

Our Business Management Officers are an integral part of the team working to ensure we capture, use and analyse data in the best possible way to support the LAA in delivering swift access to justice.

It is a role that requires the ability to engage with people with confidence, build trust, problem solve and to present complex information simply and clearly and accurately. It is essential that our work aligns with the MoJ Operating Model and the departmental approach to data driven, evidence-based decision making.

Working in this role requires the ability to identify potential challenges for the organisation and working collaboratively to develop creative solutions, whilst ensuring that principles of good data are followed. An innovative and inquisitive approach is essential, going beyond reporting on data, to provide meaningful analysis and recommendations.

The work the team delivers provides actionable intelligence, performance improvements and high-quality information that is trusted by the agency and its stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:



Essential Knowledge, Experience and skills

  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Excel and data visualisation tools - ability to use Excel and data tools such as Power BI to a level where you can manipulate data effectively.

  • Effective analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to varied audiences using visualisation tools. Inquisitive and insight-driven, with a focus on identifying both value and weaknesses in data.

  • Ability to look for ways to use technology to achieve efficient and effective results.

  • Ability to identify underlying issues using data and stakeholder input. Actively seeks ways to improve services and processes.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable Knowledge, Experience and skills

  • Interpreting information provided to draw out actions, improvements and ensure a focus on outcomes.

  • Experience of working in a support role on projects.

  • Experience of taking minutes, co-ordination, and facilitation of meetings and events.
