This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing, close-knit team within the Development Directorate. The post holder will work in partnership with colleagues across the Ministry of Justice and the Judiciary. The role provides excellent opportunities to work in a fast-paced change environment.
As part of the Common Components Service Team, you will be forefront in supporting transformational services with a particular focus on improving the Bulk Scan service which supports some of the most vulnerable users. The role focus will be to identify and challenge existing service variations by working closely with jurisdictional service teams.
This is a critical role in supporting the managing and shaping of the future of the Bulk Scan Service, contributing to the key goals and ambitions as part of the Strategic Review.
The Deputy Service Manager will work closely with the Service Manager to support relationships with MoJ, HMCTS Operations, Digital & Technology Services, Judiciary, other Jurisdiction Service Managers and Suppliers to ensure that users’ needs are met.
The Deputy Service Manager will also be responsible for delivery of some continuous improvements within the service and contributing to the future direction for the service, identifying opportunities in digital advancements to ensure ongoing value for money. Collaboration with and buy in from key stakeholders will be critical to delivery and an ability to quickly build effective and productive working relationships with a variety of people with differing interests will be critical to success.
Key Responsibilities
Accountable to the Service Manager for performance and service improvement within their respective Service area.
Support the Service Manager in building relationships within HMCTS, the Judiciary, wider MOJ and within other government departments.
Challenging variations in the service across jurisdictions to align with the service scope.
Based on risks and benefits, have a good understanding of the potential impact of changes proposed within the project and your area of responsibility and provide advice accordingly. Minimising the impact on HMCTS financial resources, staff and IT systems.
Promoting and encouraging HMCTS staff to follow operational processes and procedures.
Consider, evaluate and analyse management, performance information and user feedback to inform processes.
Draft briefings and other products as required.
To work alongside the Business Analyst to actively define and streamline the end-to-end process for Bulk Scan.
Other duties
The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties
reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

Essential Skills & Criteria
Proven experience of delivering performance improvement within a complex change space, in a project and/or operational environment.
Demonstrable ability to make sound judgements, bringing together a wide perspective of views, needs and understanding of the issues surrounding implementing changes into operational reality.
Outstanding stakeholder relationship skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across government and externally.
Ability to analyse management data to identify issues and opportunities.
Resilient and able to work at pace in a demanding environment.
The ability to use project management skills in a fluid environment where priorities may need to change quickly.
Self-awareness (e.g., aware of impact on others, aware of own development needs), self-regulated, and with strong ethics.
Desirable Skills & Criteria
A basic understanding of the Bulk Scan service and all other jurisdictions.

There will be a requirement to travel occasionally to any HMCTS site in line with business needs.
