Our dynamic remit includes National Security Vetting (NSV), Overseas Security Travel, and the increasingly critical area of Insider Risk Management. We are dedicated to providing outstanding, customer-centric personnel security services and playing a key role in supporting the department with expert insider risk identification, management, and analysis.

Job summary |
This role is central to driving service improvement through process automation and workflow enhancements across various personnel security workstreams, including National Security Vetting, overseas security travel, and Insider Risk data analysis. It encompasses the entire automation lifecycle, from proactively identifying opportunities and designing solutions to developing (coding/configuring), rigorously testing, and deploying automated workflows and scripts aligned with business needs. The role involves leveraging technology such as AI, Power BI, Power Automate, and Microsoft Forms to reduce administrative overheads, improve customer experience, and enhance data insights within these critical security functions. |
Responsibilities, activities, duties |
Process Automation & Improvement

Identify and analyse existing processes to uncover opportunities for automation and workflow enhancements that improve efficiency and consistency.

Design, develop, test, and deploy automated workflows and scripts based on business requirements.

Monitor and audit automation performance, resolving issues and identifying areas for improvement.

Integrate modern technologies, including AI, to enhance automation and reduce manual tasks.

Contribute to the implementation of a new national security vetting case management system.
Data Management, Analysis & Reporting

Ensure data integrity, accessibility, and security to support automation and contextual analysis.

Develop insights and Power BI dashboards to track automation performance, identify trends, and guide improvements.

Collaborate with the Senior Data Analyst on data management and analysis tasks.
Documentation, Training & Collaboration

Maintain clear documentation of workflows, automation logic, and configurations.

Deliver training within the personnel security team to upskill staff on automation tools and practices.

Work with cross-functional teams to align automation efforts with business goals.

Support improvements in performance reporting and workflow modelling.

Essential skills/experience |
-
Ability to design, develop and use basic coding/scripting (SQL, R and python) to test, and deploy automated workflows.

Proficiency in business process mapping, analysis, redesign, and identifying automation opportunities.

Experience documenting processes and gathering requirements (including user stories).

Ability to design, develop, test, and deploy automated workflows using platforms like Power Automate and related tools (e.g., Microsoft Forms).

Understanding of data structures, quality, and governance, with experience in data manipulation and cleaning.

Proficiency in data visualisation (Power BI) for dashboards and reports, and knowledge of data analysis techniques for insights.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including critical thinking and a data-driven approach.

Effective written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
