Working Pattern:

The post is supported by the MOJ flexible working policy and includes colleagues who work flexibly, remotely (as part of hybrid working), or as part of a job share etc.


However, in order for us to meet business demands this role is advertised as full time only which is 37 hours over 5 days.


To meet legal requirements, if you are between the ages 16-18 and you are a successful candidate, you will be required to complete an apprenticeship after your initial on the job training.

Case Management

The Case Management department is the delivery function of the LAA, and our staff ensure that each year 600,000 new clients are able to access the justice they require, and that their providers are fairly remunerated for the delivery of the legal aid.

Central Business Support

This Administrator role is based in Case Management’s Central Business Support team and focuses on supporting other caseworkers in their roles within Civil Legal Aid. The role is office based, and you would be part of a small but integral team

Job Summary

To work in a fast-paced team who primarily screen and allocate various items of work to support the legal, means and finance teams within Civil Legal Aid. The Central Business Support role includes the administration and allocation of tasks such as appeals, CCMS work and Legal Aid return post.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Knowledge, Experience, and skills

  • Experience of using word, excel, teams and other windows-based applications

  • Ability to work on own initiative and in a team

  • Adaptable with the ability to manage and work on a variety of tasks at the same time

  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly.

Desirable Knowledge, Experience and skills

  • Experience of working in an administrative role

Person Specification

No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided. However, we are looking for someone who: 


  • Works well both independently and as part of a team. 

  • Enjoys being part of a fast-paced and rewarding work environment. 

  • Brings a positive, can-do attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.
