About the role
As a Senior Accountant in the Corporate Reporting Team, you will be part of a high performing, flexible Corporate Reporting team within HMCTS and contribute to a high profile and exciting change programme within central Government. You will ensure that the leaders of HMCTS can make decisions based on accurate financial information, by bringing business intelligence and operational knowledge. Organising complex and numerical information to produce insightful corporate reporting outputs for key stakeholders - ensuring this insight is linked to robust financial plans and that you protect value, drive value and add value.
Your role will be to help achieve the HMCTS vision to have an efficient and effective courts and tribunals system which enables the rule of law to be upheld and provides access to justice for all. You will ensure that the significant investment made by HM Treasury allows HMCTS to provide a more accessible system which is modern and responsive, treats those who use our service with dignity and respect, and which provides better value for money for the taxpayer. You will help deliver a significant reform programme which will enable a radical estates modernisation and greater use of digital solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Corporate Reporting Manager, your role will encompass several key aspects (but not limited to):
Develop a deep knowledge of diverse business areas, their needs and priorities and close-working relationships across finance teams and the wider business.
Manage production of HMCTS monthly management accounts and draft narrative for CFO to include within HMCTS Board Report, MoJ with timely and accurate analysis. This includes active management of risks and opportunities alongside forecasts.
Deliver in-year Budget Version (BV) process, engaging with Strategic Finance, MoJ MA and FBP colleagues to ensure deliver and uploads are delivered to timetables.
Lead on identifying and reporting on HMCTS financial risks and discuss mitigation with the business.
Provide HMCTS corporate top-level modelling to understand impacts of wider economic issues (e.g. pay remit impacts, inflation etc).
Other duties
The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate:
Essential
CCAB qualified (part or fully), or equivalent (e.g. AAT) with considerable financial / commercial experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Strong excel and data presentation skills and an ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to identify, and communicate, key information and trends to enable evidence-based decision making
Ability to work in a complex and continually changing business environment
Adaptable and willing to review role and priorities with senior management team to meet the current and future needs of the organisation.
