Judicial Appointments Commission Job Description - Quality Assurance Manager (1 60% job-share post: Wed-Fri)

We’re looking for one Quality Assurance Manager to job-share with an existing Quality Assurance Manager to help us deliver high quality recruitment campaigns at pace. Applicants applying for this job-share role should note the requirement will be for 60% FTE with a working pattern of Wednesday-Friday each week.

As an independent public body, the Judicial Appointments Commission is responsible for designing, planning, and running recruitment campaigns to select judges in the courts and tribunals, up to and including the High Court, as well as non-legal tribunal members. With a new recruitment campaign launched every couple of weeks, and statutory responsibilities to make sure we select candidates on merit and through fair and open competition, it’s essential that our processes are robust, inclusive, and attractive to candidates from the widest possible backgrounds. 

Our Quality Assurance Managers play a pivotal role in helping us to achieve that. They work with our selection exercise teams to make sure our shortlisting and interview materials are both challenging and fair. They use their excellent stakeholder engagement skills to liaise closely with judges and our interview panels to make sure our materials and reports are accurate. They also take the lead on our feedback processes, ensuring that candidates get appropriate feedback, while also helping the JAC to consider ways we can keeping improving and strengthening our processes in the future.

Sift

Applications will be sifted based on the CV, statement of suitability and written evidence of two behaviours: Managing a Quality Service and Changing and Improving 

Interview

At interview we will assess you against four behaviours: Managing a Quality Service, Changing and Improving, Communicating and Influencing, and Delivering at Pace.

Applicants invited for interview may be required to undertake a brief work exercise either before or on the day as part of the selection process. More details will be provided if you are invited to interview. 

Interviews are expected to take place week commencing 7 July or 21 July 2025. Interviews may be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams or face-to-face. More details on the arrangements will be provided to candidates invited to interview. 

Reserve List

As well as appointing one candidate we may place other candidates on a reserve list for future vacancies for up to 12 months.


Office Attendance

JAC staff are currently working in a hybrid way with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. Applicants for this role should note that they may be required to attend the office or a JAC interview venue more regularly on occasion, in line with business need.
