Band 4 - Vocational Instructor (Media) - Additional responsibilities linked to the Job Description
Key responsibilities
Produce course material and establish brand new media course at HMP Brixton
Develop content for prisoner and staff media channels through the use of video and PowerPoint slides
Edit and publish a weekly staff newsletter and update the digital communication screen, collating key information from the wider staff group
Create a brand-new regular prisoner newsletter using a team of prisoners to create the content
Collaboration and support
Work alongside existing prison media projects and communication leads
Collaborate with National Prison Radio on certain media projects
Liaise with partners and key stakeholders
Liaise with functional heads and departments to ensure content shared is representative of the prison
Collect programme material from wings and other departments
Attend any relevant meetings
Regularly attend regional communications meetings.
Attend regional away day activities and support other London regional activity when requested.
Other
Review content to check it is compliant and ensure it is broadcast ready content that is compliant and fits with the prison’s expectations
Manage an archive of content
Where applicable, download and manage a library of music content for prison media
Develop communication calendar of cyclical awareness days and locally focused content to support content creation
You must be able to demonstrate…
Good media production skills and ability to use programs such as Adobe Audition and Adobe Premier Pro
An understanding of different genres
Knowledge of how multimedia is used as a communication tool with an understanding of the wants and needs of the target audience.
Good understanding of editorial issues, specifically considering the audience in a secure prison environment
Attention to detail, organisational, administrative and communication skills.
Flexible approach and ability to plan work to meet deadlines
Building partnerships, working in teams and have experience representing organisations
Experience of providing training for adults either in adult education or a training background
Knowledge of the diversity and inclusion and neurodiversity needs of adults in a prison setting
