Business Architecture and Transformation
The Business Architecture and Transformation (BAT) Directorate helps make sure the Ministry of Justice has an operating model (the right people, the right structure, the tools and the capability) that is fit for purpose and effective over the short and medium-term; but equally important, sets a future organisation strategy that is ambitious, effective and efficient and supports the department to implement that strategy.

About the Role
This role will require good communication skills and building working relationships across all teams and wider COO Group. The role will give you a good insight into the workings of the entire Directorate and enable you to influence and contribute to work throughout. It is a great opportunity for an existing HEO or high performing EO to deliver change and improvement across the directorate.
This role can be based in any Ministry of Justice HQ office, JSO, JCC and some travel to London and other offices will be required for in-person meetings, to be agreed according to business need.
Main Activities / Responsibilities
The job holder will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
Provide high quality and professional business management support and advice to the Directorate, working closely with the Senior Management Team to enable delivery of their priorities.
Support the SEO Business Support lead to deliver on the directorate’s objectives. Take a leadership role in the Business Support Team to ensure the team respond flexibly, effectively and at pace to requests and seek to continuously improve ways of working.
Assist in the development of key reports and robust governance and assurance processes across Directorate.
Lead Senior Management and Senior Leadership meetings by developing and delivering a forward look of meaningful and effective conversations between directorate leaders. Ensure actions are followed up and priorities are progressed.
Manage and lead on business administration processes including the process for new starters and leavers within the directorate e.g. induction process, IT requests, exit interviews, rotas, organisational charts, learning and development requests, deliverable tracking.
Support in the preparation of business cases and planning of Senior Management Away Days and directorate events.
Work with the Business Support lead in ensuring the BAT Business Continuity Plan and Business Plan is in place and updated as required.
Help project manage the Directorate’s People Promise Action Plan.
Provide business management support to the Director, either on an interim or ongoing basis. Provide ongoing leadership and direction-setting within the Business Support Team to EO Personal Assistants, which may include line management.
Management of Resources
This role may involve line management of one or more EOs.
Essential Criteria
A track record of delivering professional services in a business management function or managing senior internal and external relationships.
Desirable Criteria
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a complex set of senior stakeholders on a range of subjects.
Excellent co-ordination and organisational skills.
Influencing and managing upwards, communicating with authority when engaging with senior stakeholders.
The ability to plan, prioritise and work well under pressure - managing conflicting demands effectively and deal with last minute changes.
Ability to act in a highly confidential manner and exercise discretion.
High attention to detail when producing or checking work, such as spreadsheets, written communication, or diaries.
High professional resilience to persevere with tasks and following up with stakeholders.
Competent IT user with experience using MS Office.
