About the role
As the Head of Corporate Reporting in HMCTS your role is to protect value, drive value and add value. Your role will be to assume a lead role and responsibility for the delivery of management accounts within the prescribed timetable. You will report the up-to-date financial position to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and you will provide reports to the HMCTS Board and other senior teams. You will oversee the Budget Version (BV) process and liaise on Other Government Department (OGD) transfers.
You will provide effective, active and dynamic leadership, communicating objectives, plans and priorities with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm. You will become involved in wider initiatives to help to develop the finance function to deliver accounting services and improving management information. Where appropriate you will ensure compliance with CPD requirements and keep up to date with accounting developments.
Your role will encompass several key aspects (but not limited to):
Lead production of HMCTS monthly management accounts, meeting with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to gain approval. Develop narrative for CFO to include within HMCTS Board Report with timely and accurate analysis. This includes active management of risks and opportunities alongside forecasts.
Acting as critical friend to Finance Business Partner (FBP) leads, understand variances in business areas, and use this to create corporate narrative around issues and variances.
Lead discussion around financial position with MoJ Managements account team, creating valued relationships and defending the HMCTS position where required to do so.
Lead in-year Budget Version (BV) process, engaging with Strategic finance, MoJ MA and FBP colleagues to ensure deliver and uploads are delivered to timetables.
Provide visible, approachable leadership to your direct team (3xSEO) and wider network of Finance colleagues.
You will show personal commitment to continuous innovation (CI), actively listen to staff ideas/concerns and improving the services provided by the team you lead.
You will represent the finance community in the wider business in a professional manner which builds cross functional relationships and strengthens the perception of finance as a fair, impartial and business focused /critical partner.
You will work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.
What are we looking for? (Person Specification)
The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate:
Essential
Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) qualified or an equivalent or currently working towards one.
Accomplished communicator with strong stakeholder/relationship management skills, with a successful track record of influencing and negotiating with senior level stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to establish and sustain strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive strategic thinking and implement complex business strategies in ambiguous situations.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide insightful analysis.

The post is eligible for an accountancy allowance of £2000 for fully qualified accountants (CCAB/CIMA) for both National and London base locations.
