Job description:
As a Business Co-ordinator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and continuously improving the diverse functions of the Disclosure and Library Team. This team is integral to the department, handling a wide range of responsibilities including casework relating to the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), the UK General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018. The Business Co-ordinator engages in:
Information Management: Handling requests on topics such as the management of high-profile offenders, court cases, Legal Aid payments, prison and court security matters, policy formulation, and ministerial work.
Collaboration: Working closely with various teams across the department, including Communications, Private Office, and the Senior Civil Service, to ensure information is shared appropriately and in compliance with the law,
Continuous Improvement: Contributing to the ongoing enhancement of the team's processes and functions, ensuring they meet the highest standards of efficiency and effectiveness.
Main Tasks:
Inbox Management: Oversee the management of our inbox, serving as the central point of contact for the public and the department on FOI and DPA matters. Provide expert advice to a network of over 200 staff across the department.
Case Handling: Identify and ensure the appropriate handling of sensitive and complex cases.
Reporting: Produce management information and statistical data for MoJ Senior Civil Servants and the Departmental Board. Help manage the department’s FOI transparency obligations.
Communication: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, providing guidance to colleagues and members of the public.
Flexibility: Work flexibly across all parts of the team, undertaking tasks to meet short deadlines and respond to business needs.
Guidance, Training, and Development: Support the delivery of our expanding programme of guidance and training on FOI, EIR, and GDPR/DPA matters to staff across the department. Helping to ensure the department has the capability to meet legislative obligations.
While experience with FOI and GDPR/DPA is welcome, it is not essential. The successful candidate will receive face-to-face and on-the-job training, with knowledge development once in the role.

Desirable experience
Working knowledge of Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004, Data Protection Act 2018, and the General Data Protection Regulations.
