We are looking for a motivated and practical individual to join our team as an Industrial and Mobile Cleaning Instructional Officer, helping prisoners gain the skills and work ethic they need to build a better future.

About the Role
You will work in a prison workshop environment, delivering industrial cleaning training to prisoners while maintaining a safe, productive, and secure workplace.
You’ll teach industry-standard cleaning techniques, promote high standards of behaviour, and help individuals develop skills that can lead to employment on release.
What You Will Do
Deliver practical training in industrial cleaning, including:
Floorcare (machine cleaning, buffing, polishing)
Hygiene and deep cleaning
Safe use of equipment and chemicals (COSHH)
Supervise prisoners during workshop activities, ensuring safety and security at all times
Support learners to achieve recognised cleaning qualifications
Promote employability skills such as teamwork, reliability, and communication
Maintain tools, equipment, stock, and workshop standards
Record progress and contribute to sentence planning and rehabilitation targets
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience in industrial or commercial cleaning preferably BICS qualified
Knowledge of cleaning equipment, machinery, and safe working practices
Ability to train, instruct, and support others
Strong communication and organisational skills
A calm, resilient approach with the ability to manage challenging situations
Desirable (but not essential)
Teaching or training qualification (e.g. AET/PTLLS)
Assessor qualification (TAQA/CAVA)
Experience in a custodial, education, or training environment
