Role: POAS - Team Leader (Twilight)


Business: Office of Public Guardian (OPG), Power of Attorney Services (PoAS), Operations Directorate.


Location: Victoria Square House, Birmingham (with occasional travel to OPG offices in Embankment House, Nottingham)

Salary: £29,303 minimum - Staff are awarded an extended working hours allowance for Twilight hours.

Organisational Overview


The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) protects people in England and Wales who may not have the mental capacity to make certain decisions for themselves, such as about their health and finance. We are an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), set up in 2007 following the introduction of the Mental Capacity Act of 2005.


OPG is responsible for registering lasting powers of attorney (LPA) and enduring powers of attorney (EPA) and supervising deputies who are appointed by the Court of Protection.

Team Overview


The role advertised is for a Team Leader on Twilight shift with direct line management of a team of administration officers within POAS, based in Birmingham.


Successful applicants will be allocated to roles based on business needs at the time of recruitment. All staff from Administration Officer to Higher Executive Officer are mobile grade within the civil services, therefore movement within the POAS and OPG will be dependent on business needs.


You will support and contribute to performance of the POAS 40 Day AACT by ensuring your teams targets are met.

 

Duties and Responsibilities


















Agreed Expectations


The successful candidate will be expected to work from their base location on a weekly basis in line with current Civil Service requirements, outside of any reasonable adjustments.


The Twilight shift runs from 2pm until 10pm fixed hours which you will be expected to provide management cover for. Administrative Officer (AO) workers on your team will start from 4pm.

This role offers hybrid working with a minimum of 60% working onsite and is dependent on business needs.


The successful candidates will be based in Birmingham but may on occasion be required to travel to our other site in Nottingham.

  1. Experience of using Microsoft computer packages i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, OneNote, Presentations and PowerPoint.
