HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. The Key purpose of the role is to
Working closely with the Higher Executive Officers of the Kings Bench Division and Administrative Court, Operation Manager and teams across the division to ensure the effective allocation of cases in a busy and fast paced working environment. The post holder will be required to organise and plan the itineraries of the High Court Judges and Deputy High Court Judges who sit in the Kings Bench Division & Administrative Court Office. In addition, the post holder will be required to process other administrative, HR and governance duties. The post holder should have good communication skills, be efficient and is able to prioritise their own work as well as their team’s work, performance and training.
Main Activities / Responsibilities
The job holder will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities as a List Officer King Bench and Administrative Court:
To engage with our stakeholders to ensure a smooth running of all high-profile cases. To assist with planning and communications for high profile cases.
To populate high profile checklists, invite stakeholders to meetings and engage the judiciary to meet the requirements for all cases with reasonable adjustments.
Oversee the Court room allocation for the Royal Courts of Justice including the National Museum bookings.
Oversee the weekly chambers allocation for visiting judiciary
To prepare a list of all effective cases on a weekly basis for the meeting with the Judge in Charge of the List. The information should include details of remote hearings where applicable.
To prepare case lists for the Planning Court on a termly basis for the Planning Liaison Judge and other case lists as required by the Higher Executive Officer
Manage the Listing appointments for Kings Bench.
Check the daily CE filings and allocate witness summonses and checklists.
Check the Kings Bench applications that have been Ce- filed and progress them to Judiciary and Masters.
Alerting the Kings Bench papers to Judges on a daily basis.
To oversee the listing of trials, applications and appeals, some of which may concern sensitive subject matter and to ensure these cases are audited under strict protocols.
To manage the complaints on the portal and process complaints, praise and reasonable adjustments.
Establishing an effective working relationship with judiciary, this will involve advice on listing issues and solutions.
Respond promptly to emails from customers, judiciary, and stakeholders.
To oversee workflow and delegate tasks effectively. To produce monthly statistics on our portals.
Running of data reports and provide analysis when required.
To be accountable to the King’s Bench and Administrative Court Higher Executive Officers.
To line manager members of staff in accordance with business needs if required by the Higher Executive Officer but the role is not principally a team leader position
Other Duties
The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the line management which are commensurate with the end level or responsibility of this post.

Further details
New recruits to the Civil Service joining MoJ are expected to join at the band minimum. These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week. Whilst the role is full time only, HMCTS operates a flexible approach to working hours to suit both individual and business needs.
