EO - Central Planning Support Officer

Overview

This is an opportunity to join the Central Planning Team at the Judicial College, supporting the effective planning, coordination and resourcing of the judicial training programme. The team holds the central overview of training activity for both the current year and future plans, providing a single, accurate picture that underpins delivery, resourcing and workforce planning decisions across the College.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Judicial College, Judicial Office, HMCTS and MoJ to collate, manage and analyse information relating to judicial training requirements, recruitment activity and programme changes. The role has a strong focus on maintaining accurate forward‑looking plans and datasets that are relied on by operational delivery teams, senior managers and stakeholders.

In addition, you will line‑manage one Administrator, providing clear direction, support and feedback, and ensuring that administrative activity is delivered to a high standard and to agreed timescales.

The Judicial College

The Judicial College is part of the Judicial Office, independent from government and dedicated to supporting the judiciary and safeguarding judicial independence. The College supports senior judicial leadership in setting the strategic direction for judicial training and delivers around 2,000 courses to approximately 23,000 judicial office holders each year.

Overview of the Role

You will support the Central Planning Senior Manager, Team Manager and Head of Planning and Operational Support in maintaining a coordinated and accurate overview of the judicial training programme. This includes supporting forward planning, assumptions and demand analysis, and ensuring that changes to the programme are captured clearly and consistently.

The role involves close collaboration with operational delivery teams, performance and reporting colleagues, and a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that planning information is accurate, timely and fit for purpose. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of the annual training prospectus and support work to strengthen planning processes and reduce duplication.
