Overview of the job
As an integral member of the Performance and Quality Team the Performance Team
Member will be responsible for providing a comprehensive support service that
contributes towards the overall effectiveness of the department.
Summary
Member of a team working to support the development and business change team.
Their responsibilities will include:
? Helping individual LDU clusters to ensure performance and authorship to
agreed targets
? Supporting the authorship and development of a quality improvement
programme tailored to the needs of the division and HMPPS priorities
? Identifying local performance and quality issues and developing initiatives in
response to that.
Responsibilities,
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities
Activities & Duties

Performance management
? Assist the development and business change team to research, investigate
and report on the reasons for performance at LDU cluster level
? Work with colleagues to identify trends and propose action plans to achieve
performance targets
? Support the team to design, undertake and analyse surveys of internal and
external customers
? Participate in data audit exercises and quality inspection as required
? Respond to internal and external requests for performance monitoring
information, training or support at LDU cluster level as directed by the
Performance Lead
? Support the quality assurance function using flow-charting techniques and
recommending opportunities for improvement
? Assist in the production and presentation of accessible reports to inform
policy and continual improvement
? Support local teams within the Division to understand their performance
metrics and make improvements

? Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
? Contribute to team and organisation’s understanding of its stakeholders and
customers
Communication
? Provision of information, feedback and advice as required to support team
objectives
? Participate in meetings where appropriate
Information
? Liaise with team members to receive, collate and analyse information,
? Use appropriate systems, processes and tools for the exchange of sensitive
information, data and intelligence

Essential Experience
Demonstrate experience of problem solving skills including analytical, evaluative &
outcome focused techniques, operational experience of working in a Probation
setting, and experience of quality systems and implementing quality improvement
initiatives.
Technical
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject (or appropriate practical experience).
requirements
Microsoft: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint (or equivalent i.e. Lotus
Notes).
Ability
Demonstrate the ability to maintain information & administrative systems including
databases.
Minimum Eligibility
? All candidates are subject to security and identity checks prior to taking up
post.
? All external candidates are subject to 6 months’ probation. Internal
candidates are subject to probation if they have not already served a
probationary period within HMPPS.
