Overview of the job
• Responsible for ensuring effective delivery of chaplaincy services in two regions
• Reports to the Head of Faith and Chaplaincy Services, Deputy Director, National
Operational Services
• Location dependent on regional responsibility
• No line management responsibilities
Summary
To be part of a collaborative multi-faith HQ chaplaincy team, supporting the work of
Managing Chaplains and their teams, DDCs, Governors and other stakeholders. The
post-holder will ensure compliance and provide assurance to other senior managers
for the chaplaincy teams in their two regions. They will also be the national
Chaplaincy lead for some specific areas of work/themes, to be determined on
appointment.
Responsibilities,
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities

Regional Chaplaincy Management (two regions)
• Responsible for the chaplaincy teams in two regions (tbd), providing
appropriate guidance, support as well as ensuring compliance and
assurance to other senior managers on the implementation of policy and
procedures.
• Advising Managing Chaplains, DDCs, Governors, Directors, and other stake-
holders, ensuring advice is provided in a timely and appropriate manner.
• As far as possible, and in conjunction with local support systems, provide
pastoral care and professional support to chaplains.
• Organizing and directing regular delivery meetings for Managing Chaplains
in the two regions, providing input on chaplaincy developments and good
practice, as well responding to local issues.
• Through regular and systematic contact with Managing Chaplains,
Governors and DDC, as well as an annual review, ensure that chaplaincy
teams are compliant with policy, and that the Governor and Head of Faith
and Chaplaincy Services receive assurance of this.
• Work with partnership organizations at regional level to explore such
themes, and make links between those organizations and prisons, as
appropriate

• This post is part of HMPPS HQ flexible operational policy resource and the
postholder may be flexibly deployed in response to agreed priorities.
