Role Purpose The role of the Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project’s objectives. The Project Support

Key Accountabilities (600 words max)
• Provide support to the Project Manager and across the project, working flexibly when required.
• Support the project team in management of project controls including risk and issues, project planning and monitoring project milestones
• Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently e.g. maintaining central project records and ensuring document management standards
• Maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling of project and workstream activities.
• Prepare project performance reports/ dashboards ensuring accurate information and delivered in a timely manner.
• Management of staff as appropriate, including their development.
• Organise key project meetings, book rooms, organising project board papers and provide secretariat support including taking minutes.
• Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience (500 words max)
• Previous experience working as a member of a project team.
• Experience in creation and management of project plans, so delivery, progress, costs and benefits can be identified, managed and maintained.
• Experience of building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external Stakeholders such as Project Managers and business owners.
• Experience of identifying and managing risks, issues and dependencies
• Ability to work to tight timescales, managing your priorities and ensuring delivery of quality products.
• Ability to communicate clearly to a non-technical audience.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
• Good working of MS Project and Excel, or equivalent

Problem Solving and Decision Making (300 words max)
• Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.
• Establish and maintain project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status. Prepare project performance reports, presenting statistics and
researching new information.
• Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage and monitor compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health and Safety, Equality
and Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning
Management of Resources (250 words max)
• Assess and evaluate information received from projects from a range of reporting sources.
• Managing and monitoring RAID logs, keeping Project Managers informed making recommendations for mitigating actions.
• Management of onboard of new starters including procurement of necessary equipment.
• Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties. Draft

• Assist Project Manager in the development of the business case.
Autonomy (250 words max)
• Expected to work on own initiative using judgement and discretion to interpret service requirements within specific guidelines.
• Will be expected to take independent action and exercise initiative and judgement to ensure effective delivery of services.
• Expectation is that work will be progressed independently largely without direct reference to more senior staff
Key Relationships and Contacts (300 words max)
• The role holder will work alongside Diary Managers across the business for senior leaders both internal and external to HMCTS.
• As PSO, they will escalate issues to the Project Manager.
• The role holder will also offer support for Project Managers when needed and Programme/Project Directors.
• Working with commercial and suppliers to track contract performance and spend.
Will engage with:
• HMCTS and MOJ staff.
• Project and programme senior responsible owners.
• Project and programme managers and the wider change team.
• Programme Management Office colleagues.
• Customer and supplier representatives.
• Operational teams across HMCTS.
• Stakeholders in the justice system.
