About the role
The Property Directorate is responsible for ensuring the provision of all the property services necessary to enable the delivery of justice. Property is core to HMCTS, providing the facilities through which we can fulfil our obligations - and aspirations. Working closely with Operations and the Judiciary, we are making sure that our estate is not only fit for purpose but will ensure delivery of our vision for the future.
The Capital Planning, Investment and Sustainability team is responsible for the delivery of investment across the HMCTS estate, including helping HMCTS become more environmentally conscious and sustainable.
Job Description
As Project Support Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of property capital projects, working closely with project managers, operational colleagues and other justice partners to ensure delivery of projects identified as part of lease events, strategy planning or estates improvements.
Main Activities/Responsibilities
You will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities (not limited to):
Responsibility for providing support to Project Managers to ensure delivery of projects to quality and within cost and time constraints.
Ensure projects reports are updated and accurate.
Provide assistance in managing risk and issues registers. Where required, review risk registers, challenging mitigations and updating to ensure the latest position is captured.
Support Project Managers by taking a prominent role in projects boards and
meetings, to include operational stakeholder management such as preparing agendas, planning meeting, taking and circulating minutes and actions to support the delivery of projects.
Contributing to the development and drafting of business cases and Property Board reports, utilising specialist input as necessary.
Identify and resolve problems, referring more complex and difficult issues upwards.
Respond to requests for information on individual projects/sites.
Support management in monitoring and reporting on spend.
Build effective relationships with other Property Directorate colleagues, MOJ Estates Directorate and other support functions, such as IT and Finance to ensure smooth running of Projects.
Provide ad hoc support as required and not defined above.
Who are we looking for? (Person Specification)
The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate:
Essential
Previous experience of supporting a large project team, or a project manager for a small, low complexity project.
Maintenance of project or programme delivery plans, so that delivery, progress, costs and benefits can be identified and managed.
Experience of building productive relationships with internal and external Stakeholders: identifying risks, issues and dependencies and seeking agreements to keep delivery on track.
Ability to work to tight timescales, managing your priorities and ensuring delivery of quality products.
Ability to clearly communicate in writing and verbally to a non-technical audience.
Desirable
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Good working knowledge of MS Project and Excel, or equivalent

Working pattern
There will be a requirement to travel to 102 Petty France, London on a Monthly basis plus occasional travel to any HMCTS site in line with business needs.
